Pyktis Photography is photography by Krys Plucinsky. Pyktis is an ancient Greek work for ‘image’, the word where we get ‘picture’ from. I’ve been practising photography since 1995 and have a certificate in Photography and Darkroom Techniques from the Chelsea College of Art and Design. As times changed I familiarised myself with the digital medium, including Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom and moved onto working mainly with digital photography. Whilst I work mostly with the digital medium, I still enjoy using film and when possible I also work in medium format. I’ve have a diverse body of work but my main area of practice is has been portraiture since I began working in the field. I live in the London area and do most of my work around here, but I enjoy travel photography and getting the chance to capture different places, different feels and different people.
As well as photography I also work in graphic design, primarily in textile/pattern. I’ve always been very taken with Art Nouveau and Art Deco style so my work is predominately one big homage to those movements but some designs just come out as whatever they want. I have a little shop open on Redbubble here.
